Wells out, Chris Cantino commits to XU

August 22, 2012
Among all the chaos yesterday of the announcement of Dez Wells being expelled from Xavier, several places have reported that Chris Cantino has committed to Xavier.

Cantino played in Junior College last year so he is immediately eligible to play.  He's a forward and would likely jump into the competition for one of the starting spots.

More on Wells to come.

Dez Wells kicked out of Xavier

August 21, 2012
I'm just speechless.

Dez Wells, who had the potential to become one of the best players in our bright history, has been expelled from school for violating the code of conduct.

I'm so disappointed that I can't elaborate on this right now.  He's easily the most exciting and talented player in recent time to play at Xavier.  With Wells gone, now all 5 starters from last year must be replaced when the season starts this fall.

Will Mack make a late addition to this fall's team?

August 16, 2012
We've been wondering all summer...what will Xavier do with the last scholarship opening for this fall?  Another high-schooler from the class 2012, a transfer, or maybe save the spot for an extra freshman next year...?

When it looked like the first option was completely off the table, it might end up being just that.  Indiana had one too many players slated to be on scholarship this fall.  In a classy move, Tom Crean over-recruited this class and someone had to be squeezed.  Ron Patterson, an incoming freshmen, out of nowhere has academic issues and will not be on scholarship this year.  He did qualify to enroll at IU and even has taken summer classes there so this seems to be a case of scholarship limits, not academic standards.

Xavier just so happens to be one of the top schools that recruited Patterson before he committed to IU.  Now, with XU being in the minority of Division I schools with an open scholly, the Muskies might be in business!

IU has dropped the ball in the past with a few players that we've been happy to accommodate, Tu Holloway and Jordan Crawford.

We'll let you know if anything becomes official.  Go Muskies!

Xavier-led team wins Summer League, Semaj is MVP

July 30, 2012
After Semaj Christon was allowed to change teams in the Deveroe's Summer League due to his original team being DQ'ed for not having 5 guys at tip-off team, he joined the Deer Park team.  He scored 31 points and was ward awarded MVP in the championship game as his new team, which included Dez Wells, Jalen Reynolds, James Farr, and Myles Davis, won the tournament.

I don't want to put much emphasis on this as summer leagues don't mean a lot.  But it's clear that we have a talented player joining the Muskies this fall and there's certainly a lot of potential in the other three incoming Freshmen as well.

Go Muskies!
